half of you might be seeing khamoshi's last episode whilst I post this and the other half might be saying, 'astagfar bhen, Ramadan hai'. This other half will be glued to their screens when the Ramadan special Suno Chanda airs. I'm not a fan of dramas, but Nano is. She's the type of woman who is unable to taste the meetha in gulabjamun and the spice in aloo chat loaded with chaat masala unless someone on television is getting slapped or is falling down the stairs.
Back when I was in college, Nano and I used to get DVD's from the corner shop for our Saturday night together and at that time, Iceland opened up next to our house for the first time. This shop goes by many names, 'Iceland, Icelink, IceJuice' etc. During one such DVD drama spree, Nano and I got a 'Candi' shake from Iceland and that is when a sixty year old widow fell in love. I remember her saying that this biscuit shake tasted just like the drink Nana abu would get her when she'd be behind him on a scooter and they'd roam the city after he'd return from work. This 250 rupee street drink is better than a Johnny Rocket's double sized shake that you get on weekends. Milk blended with bananas, crushed biscuits, and probably Raphan chocolate syrup, this mini dessert is my Nano jaan's favorite summer treat. According to her, one has to to slurp the drink first and then leave the best part - the icecream and biscuits for the end.
There are more Nano tales to be told, and treats to be discussed but the bell just rang and our lady maid must be here with the candi milkshakes that Nano told her to fetch for us. The one with the extra wafers on top is hers. Please excuse me whilst I indulge in nano's dil pasand treat and watch the last episode of khamoshi with her.
