🌴Oil Pulling also know as "kavala" or "gundusha," is an ancient Ayurvedic dental practice. The technique involves swishing Sesame, Sunflower or Coconut oil (coconut is my preferred oil) in your mouth 👄 on a empty stomach for around 20 minutes. Oil pulling helps to remove toxins from the body, improving oral health as well as the overall health of the body. 🙌 I have been doing this on and off for years as part of my morning routine. WHAT IS IT?
A natural, gentle and effective way to fight bacteria, support healthy gums and whiten teeth.
WHY DO IT? - To support good oral health
- Gently whiten teeth and remove plaque buildup
- Fight bacterial overgrowth in the mouth and gums
- Healthy teeth and gums means a healthier mouth later in life too - yay!! HOW TO DO IT? - PUT 1-2 tsps of coconut oil into your mouth, in the morning before eating or drinking anything. (I do this when I first wake up, as I'm prepping breakfast and before my lemon water). - SWISH gently around your mouth for 15-20 minutes. 20 minutes is ideal, but you may need to work up to that, so it's perfectly fine to start with even just 10 minutes. - SPIT the oil out into a lined trash can upon completion. DO NOT SPIT it down the drain - the coconut oil will harden and bad news for your pipes. - RINSE with warm water and follow with brushing your teeth and then sip down your morning lemon water. **TIPS - want a little extra fighting power? Add a couple drops of your favorite essential oil like lemon or clove to help fight more bacteria and leave your mouth super clean!

Oil pulling works by cleaning (detoxifying) the oral cavity. In a similar way that soap cleans dirty dishes. It literally sucks toxins out of the mouth and creates a clean, antiseptic oral environment that con tributes to the proper flow of dental liquid that's needs to prevent cavities and disease.
It also helps things such as hangovers, bad breath, whitens teeth, prevents cavities, improves acne, reduces inflammation, gives you energy and so much more.
Oil pulling is something that is so beneficial and can really make a difference in your life. Choose an oil of your choice (sesame and coconut oil are my favs) and give it a try. Swish for 20 min, spit out, rinse mouth with warm water or even better salt water, scrape tounge with tounge scraper if you have one, brush teeth as normal and enjoy your beautiful fresh clean smile. 😁
