JULIET, NAKED (2018)
Mega sweet, an absolute charmer from start to finish. It’s funny, and pretty much always stays in reality rather than succumbing to all the tropes. Yes it’s still an indie romance and stays within the trappings, but it never felt forced and Byrne/Hawke have real chemistry. Rose Byrne is so damn good in this, and Ethan Hawke is effortlessly cool. (4/5)
Art-filmbérletünk ötödik előadása egy intelligens, mégis könnyed vígjáték:
A MEZTELEN JULIET (11. 28. 18 óra)
A Nick Hornby regényéből készült film főszereplője Annie, aki beleszeret az egykor elismert (és ma már elfeledett) énekes-dalszerzőbe - akinek munkásságáért történetesen a pasija is odavan.

I've been wanting to see this one for a while. Once I saw the cast and heard that the movie was based on a Nick Hornby novel, I attempted to pre-purchase my tickets on Fandango, but was politely reminded by customer relations that this movie was not "Avengers 4" and that there would be, without a doubt, a seat available for any showtime I wanted. Greg from Fandango was right. I went and saw this movie yesterday afternoon and was the only one in the theater. Well, me and the homeless dude that wandered in about midway through the movie just looking for a place to plant his bum that wasn't a sidewalk. He laughed at bits I thought were barely worth a chuckle, but then again, his concession stand was different from mine. Mine carried popcorn and red vines; his carried salvia and meth. Tomato, tomahto. "Juliet, Naked" is a movie about a woman named Annie (Rose Byrne) who has wasted several years of her life being arm candy to Duncan (Chris O'Dowd), a professor who is so smitten with Tucker Crowe (Ethan Hawke), an alternative rock artist from the 90's, that he vlogs about the conspiracies behind the singer's disappearance regularly. When we meet Annie, it's quite clear that she's in limbo, reflecting on a life she's not particularly fond of having lived the way that she has. She wants kids, wants to get out of her hometown, and when Duncan confesses that he's been with another woman, it's the perfect time to let go and start fresh- but not before slamming Tucker Crowe's one hit wonder on her ex's fan site/shrine, which garners the attention of none other than Tucker Crowe himself. The two become pen pals of sorts, eventually meet cute, and provide each other with the second chances that both fear may be too late to take. "Juliet, Naked" is a slight film. It's not overly romantic or even very romantic. It's actually kind of ugly in a messy sort of way, but the actors find a way to marry the material so that their performances keep us invested. There are amusing parts, but nothing that makes the gut hurt from laughing so hard or the heart swoon from loving the characters so much. Overall, though I did expect more, I got enough to say that my time wasn't wasted.SCORE: B-
