Picture this: As you’re walking through dense rainforest, along thin trails lined on either side by ankle to knee high plants, you take a break in a shaded area to drink some water. You look around at the plants and listen to the buzzing sounds of life all around you. You take a deep breath, look down at your leg, and see a little orange tiger leech making its way up your leg. You shriek, try to stay calm and flick it off, but stays attached and starts to climb faster and faster looking for any piece of exposed skin. As it starts to rain, the tiger leech becomes more active. You finally find a way to remove it from your clothes and then you realize that there’s five of it’s cousins frantically searching for skin like an addict looking for it’s next fix. You look around and on every leaf you see multiple leeches all reaching their mouth out, ready to attach to any mammal that walks by. Tiger leeches are terrifying, but when you stop to look at them sitting on the leaves that aren’t near your body, you see how beautiful they really are. #borneo#tigerleech#malaysia#visitmalaysia#bloodsucker#alien#naturephotography
