I’m obsessing over this book right now. I was told Jesus>Religion changes lives, and I can tell you that is fact. You want to have a relationship with God, know Jesus, enjoy life more? Read this book. You don’t have to be perfect in order to be a Christian. It’s not about the rules you follow it’s about WHO you follow. @jeffersonbethke also has a YouTube video that’s about 4 minutes long I highly recommend you look at, it’s called “Why I hate religion but love Jesus”
Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
We learn that Lazarus was a point of contact for people to believe in Christ. But what the crowd seems not to understand is that Lazarus was not Jesus. Yet they came to see him. Many have joined the faith only because of of the works of God. But concentrating on the works on God alone cannot save you. Our eyes must be on God and not on signs and wonders. What are you coming for?
Christ or the work of Christ? Are you following Jesus Christ for the sign and wonder? What is keeping you in your walk with Christ? Are you gazing of the cross or the sign? Many care to see Lazarus instead of Jesus. Yes, we serve a God of miracle, but our hope and salvation should not be on the miracles alone. Why are you following Christ? For miracle or to save others?
The power of perspective is incredible. Some people can be living in a beautiful paradise and act like they’re stuck in a blizzard. Why is that?
Why not appreciate what’s right in front of you. Why not choose to say, “I am thankful for THIS season, THIS circumstance, THIS relationship” instead of seeing it for what it isn’t or looking for a reason to complain.
Life is incredible, but it’s what you make it. It can be incredibly wonderful or incredibly horrible, but so much of that is your choice.
I challenge you today to stop whatever you’re doing and state 10 things that are great about your CURRENT circumstance. If you can’t do it, think broader or ask a friend for help. Your ability to live in gratitude is directly related to your ability to thrive wherever you are.
And if you find yourself in what seems like an impossible circumstance, ask God about it. He happens to specialize in the “impossible.” (See the resurrection of Jesus.) And He would love to hear from you whether you believe in Him or not; because despite what you may think, your belief does not change reality, and He is the source of everything.
