Winnie Harlow is a Canadian fashion model, spokesperson, and activist. She gained popularity as a contestant on the twenty-first cycle of the U.S. television series "America's Next Top Model" while having a skin condition called vitiligo.
Winnie's skin began to lose her natural pigmentation around the age of 4. She was a victim of bullying by other children and was reportedly called a "cow, zebra, and all manner of other disparaging slurs" throughout her childhood. The verbal harassment led to her changing schools numerous times and dropping out of high school.
Now, she is a successful supermodel and spokesperson for those who are living with vitiligo. She embodies the definition of loving one's skin and not being defined by looks. Thank you, Winnie, for showing me that even my flaws can be beautiful, because they make me.....me.
